#99 Acknowledging Christ

The hypocrisy of the Pharisees is used as an object lesson for the disciples. They must not fear to acknowledge Christ before men, even when persecution and death come. As we face things that could be fearful in our own lives, we need to firmly stand for Christ. 

#98 Hypocrisy and Legalism

Jesus warns the Pharisees and the scribes about the wickedness and greed that is inside of them, giving them woes that are still relevant for us as we consider legalistic tendencies and the hypocrisies that can be present in our walks.

We are responsible to respond to the gospel message when it is presented. All through the Bible God has revealed himself with many signs and proclamations all leading to the person of Jesus. The people in Jesus' day responded with unbelief. How do we respond?

As people thought that Jesus was performing His acts of power through the power of Satan, he challenges them with their hypocrisy and unbelief. Jesus is united to the Father, and a house divided could not stand. They are called to recognize that the Kingdom of God was upon them and believe.

Walking through Luke, we come to a person trying to justify themselves. As a connection we are at times are too smart for our own good and look for loopholes, trying to justify ourselves. But we need to understand the difference between the Law and Grace and and rest in what has been done for us, as we trust in the Word of God and obey his commands. 

Sending out the 72

As we walk through this life, our perspectives can change from time to time. As the disciples are sent with a purpose and a mission, they return with the perspective that overlooks the hardships of serving for the victories ahead of them. The joy that they have stems from the fact that their names are written in the book of life. This joy is deepened through serving the Lord, and seeing how he works through them. Our perspectives are to be ones of joy. 

#91 Who is the Greatest

Today we look at the disciple's attitudes. We compare them to Jesus and how greatness is achieved through obedience to the Father's will. Things such as selfishness, hatred, and pride are barriers to having a servant's heart in order to reach people with the gospel. 

Doubt of Fear Wreck Your Faith

We look at the disciples failing to cast out a demon and the struggle that we all face in our faith when doubt enters in. How do we respond to those times of fear and disappointment? Do we go deeper, or do we crumble? We are called to an awesome ministry and we cannot be weighed down by the things that distract us.
