#243 New Self and Perseverance

Jude 17-23. Today we look at how the new self impacts our perseverance in trials, and hardships dealing with our faith. Jude calls us to remember, to be on guard against the false prophets, and then a litany of imperatives for the day to day building up of our faith.

Philemon - Today we continue to look at the New self and the impact that Christ has in our lives. We discuss the issues found in the letter to Philemon to show the importance of the gospel message and how reconciliation is such a huge understanding for us to consider.

4:7-21 We finish up the letter to the Colossians as we see the team of support around Paul and the ministry of the gospel. It is so important to understand the impact that we have as a greater team for the Lord. Whether we are doing so locally, regionally or globally.

4:2-6  Today we look at how the new self should impact how we approach unbelievers. We should be in prayer for opportunities to share the gospel message in a clear way. Emphasizing how we are to walk in a worthy way and having our speech seasoned with salt.

Col. 3:22-4:1 Today we look at how the New Self is supposed to change our perspective towards the work that we do. Even as Paul addressed half of the world's population which in under servitude, we can abide by principle of working heartily unto the Lord in all that we do.

Col. 3:18-21 Today we talk about the family unit and how the new self should impact the relationships within our families. God gives roles and authorities for a reason, and for all of the interactions, we are to understand how the grace of God impacts the communication and engagements with one another.

Col. 3:12-17 Today we give an update on where the church is in the process, and then talk about the qualities of the new self and what we are to put on. We take comfort and place our hope that God calls us chosen, holy and beloved.

#236 The Old Self

Col. 3:5-11 Today we look at the old self and how we are to put to death, put off, and not lie. In a time where we are told lies about our identity, the sanctifying presence of the Spirit brings hope in the truth that we are raise with Christ.

#235 The New Life

Col. 3:1-4 Today we see the hope and confidence that we are raised with Jesus. This confidence of the Justification that we have received helps us to seek and set our minds on the things above as we await his return.

#234 False Teachings of Men

Col. 2:16-23 Paul and the Colossians faced many forms of false teaching and tells them to not let people judge or disqualify them because of those teachings. Many times we can conflate our issues with their issues in order to not allow anyone to judge us as well. The point Paul was getting at was to always hold fast to the head, not to the other religious things that are out there. Our hope is in Christ alone.
